about

We recorded this song one afternoon in our friend David P. Smith's basement. Old-school style - live off the floor with very little fuss. A couple of mics positioned ad-hoc, a bunch of pillows stuffed in the guts of a nearby piano to dampen the hum of the strings, and away we went.

lyrics

in the dark, in the dirt like a seed there's a day
without a scar or a shape or a judge in the way
that's the one i will keep to myself hide away

in the song there's a note there's a chord there's a tone
in my skin sinks like lead feels heavy as stone
that's the one i will keep to myself all alone

there's a high, there's a low, this is what i know

there's a love wrapped around, threaded through, woven in
there are times when the walls are thick, times when the walls are thin
that's the one i will keep i will hold it in

there's a high, there's a low, this is what i know

Their songs speak to matters of the heart and conjure scenes of the everyday. Harmony and simple arrangements are their key ingredients. ... more
