about

We recorded this song one afternoon in our friend David P. Smith's basement. Old-school style - live off the floor with very little fuss. A couple of mics positioned ad-hoc, a bunch of pillows stuffed in the guts of a nearby piano to dampen the hum of the strings, and away we went.

The song is hurtin. The best kind.

lyrics

THE HURTIN KIND
my eyes are lowered
like a child like a child
my thinking wanders
like a weed growin wild
time has laid this out for us to find
yet i think this is a song of the hurtin kind

my heart is heavy
with the weight with the weight
i long to see you
but i want to run away
and i can't get you off of my mind
i guess this is a song of the hurtin kind

the words are sitting
on my tongue on my tongue
the music behind them
is a song that isn't sung
i'm afraid to say taht now's the time
so i guess this is a song of the hurtin kind
